This is the home page for providing information and details on the Alexander YDNA Project.

If you are interested only in seeing the results from the DNA tests of project members, you can click on the "Y Results" link at the left to go directly to the table. If you do go to the table now, we hope that, if you are not already a member of the project, you will return here afterward for more information about joining. Click on the "Tell me more" link at left for information about the project and how to join.

After you have examined your DNA results on the "Y Results" page, we encourage you to enter your results on Y Search (link on "Y Results"). On Y Search you may compare your or any selected person's DNA profile with that of any other person whose results are posted.

Family information is available in the linked "Family Data" document at left. This section will give an overview of each family with enough information to uniquely identify the earliest known member or members of that family. Each person who is a member of the Alexander DNA project is welcome to send information for posting on the "Family Data" page. We would particularly like to identify the families in some manner other than Alex1, Alex2, etc; so name your family.

On the "Family Data" page, there are links to the Alexander families of several DNA-project members, i.e., those who have provided data. If you haven't provided information yet, please provide it to the web master or one of the project administrators. The family lineage may be as complete as you desire but should include at least information equivalent to that found in this file. You will be identified only by your kit number, and you should omit anyone born after 1900. We will also not use your mother's name, even if she was born before 1900, because a few groups handling sensitive personal information still use or accept the mother's name as an identifier.

The "Documents" link at left leads to a page where there are transcriptions of several wills, deeds, pension applications, etc. for our early Alexander families and others associated with them. This page, which has a return link to this page, is maintained by the web master on another site and contains a few documents in which you are probably not interested because they have no connection to the early-day Alexanders.

The "Brick Walls" link is to a site maintained by George Alexander, where individuals may post information about Alexander ancestors who were seemingly part of a very early federal witness program, given new identities with all traces of their pasts erased. Most of us have such ancestors somewhere in our heritage.

Do you have questions that we haven't answered about the Alexander DNA project? Send you question(s) by e-mail to the project administrators, and one of them will get in contact with you.

An article on these pages may be authored by any project participant or may be the result of a collaboration by participants.

NOTE: Send family information and constructive comments to the web master/lackey.
