Previous "Featured Families" Alexander Twins
UPDATE: The twins' search for a tie to an established family was successful when a cousin was located and swiped his cheek for a DNA test. He and they are almost perfect matches to the control for the SpartCons.
Featured Family: Joseph Lowery Alexander and Margaret Tate

If you are a male Alexander descendant and are willing to take the YDNA test,
please let us know.

Joseph Lowery Alexander was Val (Grizzle) Alexander's ancestor through his grandson, Joseph Lowery Dysart, son of Samuel Dysart and Nancy Alexander. Joseph L. Alexander was apparently born in PA and came to NC with his wife's family after the Revolutionary War, and Tate family history appears to say that they stopped in VA for a while and that some of the family returned to PA while the others came further south and settled in Burke County, NC, which was then part of Meckenburg County. We have not verified this history.

Joseph L. and Margaret had at least the following sons: William (married Sophia Erwin); Robert (wife, if any, unknown); John P. (married to cousin Elizabeth Tate); and Tate Alexander (not married). Daughters included: (NU*, married to John Pulliam); (NU*, married to a Rust); apparently (NU* married to a Ballew); Jane (married to Jonathan Williams); and Nancy (married to Samuel Dysart). John Pulliam, married to Nancy's sister. was bondsman for her and Samuel, and J. Erwin, probably related to Sophia, was their witness.

Joseph Lowery and Margaret Tate Alexander's sons William and John P. are known to have sons and grandsons. If you are a descendant, male or female, please get in contact with John and Val Alexander; together, we need to find a male to take the YDNA test.

*Names may be known to researchers of Pulliams, Rusts, and Ballews.
